PROCESS OF HOW THE HAMMOCKS
ARE MADE WITH JASPE

1. BUY THE THREAD ACCORDING TO THE COLOR OF THE CLOTH
Solicit the color of thread needed by means of the color catalog, where each color is identified by code. The thread is cotton, stained with hard dyes that contain no azoics.

Delivery time: 4 days

2. MAKING OF THE CLOTHS
The thread is sold in one pound units. Each pound has 20 bundles. The women wrap the bundles manually on a bobbin/reel made of wood.

Delivery time: 1day

STAIN OF "JASPE"
They put the bundles of thread that they are going to stain, held up by wooden sticks.
They stain the clothes after tighting them so that the figures are designed.

Time to stain and dry: 2 days .

WEAVING
The cloths are made on a belt loom, a technique in which the women use small sticks of wood to weave the thread in order to make the cloth. The size of the cloths are 20 inches wide by 63 inches long. The women weave the cloth with the cones of thread according to the design of the hammock.

Weaving time: 4 days

3. MAKING OF THE HAMMOCK § PUTTING TOGETHER THE CLOTH AND MACRAME They sew together the cloths with a simple sewing machine. A macramé border is made by hand from the threads that were left unsown. These will serve as holders.

Time: ½ day

HOLDER
They make the holder that goes on each edge of the hammock by hand with thread cotton, in the form of a hook. They attach the hook to the end of the macramé with a series of knots.

Time: ½ day .
